Dear Ellie,
I've noticed a fairly quick change in the disposition of your mother and I. Over the past few days, our stress level has gone down considerably. We're beginning to relax. To enjoy your company without as much worry. We can hold you and change your diapers without the oxygen level in your blood plummeting.
In the beginning, we knew that we couldn't touch you much. That if we did, we'd only be doing it for ourselves. In a backward way, whether or not I perceived myself a good parent was measured by how much I could subdue the impulse to give you loving gestures.
But now, we can finally do more than just love you from a distance, and its a wonderful thing.
Dearest Ellie,
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that your Mom and Dad are now able to express their profound love for you in a "hands on" way after such a long time from afar.
Grandma imagines your outstretched arms waiting for my hug.
Love,
Grandma Smith
